Marcos and Misha defeated Knowle and Kohlmann 64 57 10-5. their next round match against Becker and Waske is winnable for them if they come in focussed. in any case, it's nice to see Marcos teaming up with Misha, an instinctive shot-maker who likes the ball to be going through the court. good choice there Marcos, and good luck in the next round, guys. despite their fatigue after their singles matches, Marcos and Misha gritted their teeth to fight through Becker's and Waske's resistance to win the match at 7-6(3) 7-5. Andy and Yoni are the men who will most likely stop their run in the semis. a great effort nevertheless by Marcos and Misha.

from Marcos' official site:baghdatis.com/articles/view/two-out-of-two-for-marcosTwo Out Of Two For MarcosFriday, 03 February, 2012It was a successful Thursday for Marcos at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors as he advanced to the singles quarter-finals and, together with Mikhail Youzhny, also reached the semi-finals in the doubles competition. Marcos defeated Poland’s Lukasz Kubot 6-4, 6-2 in his first match of the day. To claim victory in 76 minutes, he converted three of his six break point chances and won 75 per cent of points on his first serve. “I can say in the first round I started very well; Rosol played very well in the middle of the first set,” said Marcos. “So I cannot say if I played better or not, but today I kept the momentum and I kept the way I started against Rosol and that made the win a bit easier.
“I’m feeling good now. I’m happy. I’m playing good and I think my ranking will go up slowly.”Marcos then returned to court with Youzhny to score a 7-6(3), 7-5 win over Germans Benjamin Becker and Alexander Waske in the doubles quarter-finals. They broke serve twice for victory in 85 minutes. Marcos is back in action on Friday as he faces defending champion and fourth seed Ivan Dodig of Croatia in the quarter-finals. The two have played once before, with World No. 38 Dodig prevailing in straight sets in the ‘s-Hertogenbosch semi-finals last year. The match is scheduled for last on Centre Court. from Marcos' official site:baghdatis.com/articles/view/double-bill-for-marcos-on-semi-final-saturdayDouble Bill For Marcos On Semi-final SaturdaySaturday, 04 February, 2012Marcos features twice on semi-final Saturday at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors as he bids to reach the final of both the singles and doubles competitions at the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tournament. On Friday, Marcos defeated defending champion and fourth seed Ivan Dodig 6-4, 7-5 in the singles quarter-finals. For victory in one hour and 40 minutes, Marcos broke serve three times from six opportunities and won 81 per cent of points behind his first serve. He is through to his second ATP World Tour semi-final of the season after reaching the last four in Sydney, where he was beaten by Julien Benneteau. For a place in his 12th tour-level final, Marcos will face Slovakian Lukas Lacko, who beat seventh seed Robin Haase in straight sets earlier in the day. Marcos will be out for revenge against the No. 97-ranked Lacko, whom he lost to in four sets in the first round of Wimbledon two years ago. The 24-year-old Lacko was in good form coming into Zagreb, having reached the third round as a qualifier at the Australian Open, eventually falling to Rafael Nadal. The match will take place second on Centre Court on Saturday, with the first semi-final, between Michael Berrer and Mikhail Youzhny, starting at 5pm local time (GMT +1hr). Marcos and Youzhny will then return to Court 1 after suitable rest for their doubles semi-final clash against second seeds and former Australian Open champions Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram. quite unexpectedly Marcos and Misha defeated Andyoni 6-2 6-4. or maybe it isn't entirely surprising when we hear that a duo of two good singles players demolish doubles specialists teams. here's an interesting article which i think might interest you.

www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2012/02/5/Zagreb-Sunday-Youzhny-Dismisses-Lacko-To-Capture-Title.aspxYouzhny Ends Title Drought; Wins Zagreb DoubleZagreb, Croatia by ATP Staff | 05.02.2012Third seed Mikhail Youzhny captured his eighth title on Sunday, dismissing first-time ATP World Tour finalist Lukas Lacko 6-2, 6-3 in the PBZ Zagreb Indoors final. He followed up his singles victory by partnering Marcos Baghdatis to the doubles crown to become the first double winner this season. The Russian did not face a break point in the match, winning 75 per cent of his service points. He broke the 97th-ranked Lacko three times, and served out the match at love to end a 16-month title drought dating back to his Kuala Lumpur triumph in 2010. "It feels really good, as it was my best match of the tournament, and that’s why I won today," said Youzhny. "It’s tough to compare my level today with previous years, it’s impossible. But for sure today was my best tennis of the week." With the win, Youzhny remained undefeated against the Slovakian, defeating the 24 year old for the fourth time. He is now 8-10 in title matches, with four of his final victories coming on indoor hard courts. "I don’t want to think about my ranking. If I keep playing well, my ranking will come," stated Youzhny. "I’m just enjoying my game at the moment, that’s it. It’s a nice atmosphere in Zagreb, I feel comfortable here and really enjoy this tournament." Lacko was bidding to beat his fourth straight seeded opponent, having knocked off No. 2 seed Alex Bogomolov Jr., seventh seed Robin Haase and No. 6 seed and 2007 champion Marcos Baghdatis en route to the final. "I was down 1-2 in the first set. I had an easy forehand winner down the line, and I missed it," recalls Lacko. "It was a cruical moment as he broke me that game, and he started to play too good. He was reading me well, so I didn't have control in the [match]." Added Lacko, "I wasn't nervous. I didn't play my best. He was just too good today. If I take my four matches before, I was the one applying pressure, attacking most of the shots. Today was the opposite. I was under pressure." In the doubles final, Youzhny and Baghdatis rolled past wild cards Ivan Dodig and Mate Pavic 6-2, 6-2 in just 52 minutes. The Cypriot and Russian won 24 of their 26 first serve points, and broke the Croatians twice in each set to seal the victory.Baghdatis takes home his first doubles trophy in his second title match, while Youzhny celebrates his ninth win in 12 finals. Both Dodig and Pavic were contesting their first doubles final. "It's been a pleasure to come back here to play this week," said Baghdatis. "I was last here in 2007 and it's been great to be back. Thanks to everyone for making it a great week, and Mischa for playing with me. Congrats to him on a great tournament."Prior to Youzhny, the last player to win both the singles and doubles events at an ATP World Tour event was Andy Murray, who pulled off the feat at the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships in 2011.
