Under the roof and lights on Centre Court, Murray closed out a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory two minutes after the 11pm curfew that is imposed on the All England Club by the local council. “I think the quality of tennis improved under the roof,” said Murray. “I was under the impression I was stopping at 11:00 regardless of what the score was. Even if it was in the middle of a game. But obviously glad that I managed to get the finish. And the atmosphere at the end was excellent.” Marcos played his part in an enthralling contest, rallying from a break down in the second set to level the match before worrying the British crowd by leading with a service break in the third set. Murray finished strongly, though and claimed victory in three hours and 13 minutes. Marcos had fired 44 winners and saved 17 of 23 break points. Stay tuned to www.baghdatis.com.
