By Nottingham Post | Posted: June 21, 2015
Former World No.8 Marcos Baghdatis will play top seed David Ferrer in the Aegon Open Nottingham second round on Tuesday, after the Cypriot got past Victor Estrella Burgos.
Last year's Aegon Trophy champion Baghdatis held a 7-5 3-0 lead on Centre Court at the Nottingham Tennis Centre before his rival was forced to retire through injury an hour into their match, but Baghdatis says he is happy even with the little time he had on court.
"I'm starting to feel better and better," said the 2006 Australian Open finalist.
"You need more matches, more games, and slowly you feel better when you play more and more. But I'm happy I went through.
"I have another day of practice before my match on Tuesday, so that's perfect."
On his match-up with world No.7 Ferrer, Baghdatis added: "It gives me another challenge, another day of hard work.
"When you win one or two matches like that, you start to click and feel much better going forwards.
"I'll talk a bit with my coach and just find a way to win. It's going to be interesting."www.nottinghampost.com/Aegon-Open-Nottingham-Marcos-Baghdatis-does-fear/story-26739090-detail/story.html
