Sad news. Marcos has retired from today's match against C.Rochus because the pain of his previous injury has made a sudden comeback.
"Marcos BAGHDATIS a été contraint à l’abandon, la douleur s’étant subitement ravivée. Il a préféré s’arrêter, afin de préserver ses chances pour la fin de saison." Marcos Baghdatis has been bound to retire, the pain had suddenly reappeared. He's preferred to stop to save his chances for the end of the season.

I guess that Marcos feared he would do further damage to his wrist if he continued playing. He felt that he came back too soon and preferred to avoid the risk of a long-term injury. Good decision, anyway. Take your time, Marcos.

From the Cypriot newspaper SIMERINI (date: Tuesday, September 16, 2008) www.simerini.com.cy/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=348623"Health, above all else... " PETER LUNDGREN'S SATISFACTION FOR BAGHDATIS' COMEBACK"He played very good matches and started to find his form... "Journalist: Argyris Argyrou Marcos Baghdatis' participation in the Orleans Challenger has satisfied his coach Peter Lundgren. "It is so important to Marcos that he played three matches in a row and worked a lot on the court. His retirement in the fourth match, because he suffered a pain, does not worry me. We practiced a lot the last two weeks and that pain stretched down his forearm was somehow expected. It was the hand that was recuperating for so long and started to strengthen recently with exercises. He'd better stop the match than risk a long-term injury... " Mr.Lundgren told us, he was a bit disappointed though... "There is a bit of disappointment since Marcos was able to win this tournament. He played very good matches and started to find his form, embody the competitive spirit and retrain his brain. But, health above all else", the Swedish coach added. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - The second paragraph is on the Russian win in the Fed Cup (boring topic , it's WTA).
- I like Peter Lundgren a lot . It's his persona that caught my attention. The fact that he was Federer's and Safin's coach in the past doesn't make me float in ecstasy, as I rarely have been thinking at epidermic layer.

Thanks for the update Getta It's always good news to read that Peter is satisfied with the way Marcos played. Of course it's totally understandable that Marcos decided to retire in the 4th match instead of risking a long term injury. He showed he was back on court and that's what matters for me at the moment
