I've just read the latest entry in Marcos' blog: "... I don't have a weakness for chocolate or sweet things; I'm more of a salty guy..."I am a "salty girl", too. I don't really care for sweets. I prefer the salty tastes more. "Mezedes", as we call them here in Greece. This makes me more interested in Marcos. Good luck, Marcos, I'm with you!

Marcos won the match in 5 sets! 6-4 6-4 2-6 3-6 6-2! To be honest I was afraid after set 4, Safin was playing very well but Marcos did it! Well done! Next is Lleyton Hewitt

Well I saw part of the match. Actually, I had to leave for work in the middle of the 4th set. And to be totally honest, I was worried about Marcos when I left because Safin was really playing well. I'm kinda relieved to discover he finally took that match. About the match: The Cypriot improved to 8-3 in five set matches after beating 2005 champion and two-time runner-up Marat Safin of Russia 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 in three hours and 13 minutes in the night match on Rod Laver Arena.
Baghdatis, who is writing a blog for ATPtennis.com during the Australian Open, improves his record of never having lost a two-sets lead in a Grand Slam (17-0). The 2003 junior champion, and 2006 runner-up (l. to Federer), managed to convert four breaks of serve from 16 opportunities. www.atptennis.com/1/en/2008news/ao_thursday1.2.asp

Marcos should not have any problems to demolish Hewitt. I am afraid that it will not be the case though, as Marcos has "to find the solution for the problems" he created with his immaturity. www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/I think that his fatal mistake is not the case mentioned in the local press, but that while he was blogging from Melbourne he continually refered to Greek things. Wrong!!! He is Cypriot. He is not Greek. If he wanted to refer to Greece, he should refer to Turkey as well. Simple logic. Just simple logic. He has to pay the price now for not being well advised by image makers. I think that it's very difficult for him to focus on his upcoming match.

Marcos is young. He's gotta learn some things. And sometimes, you learn through the mistakes you make. I can understand how all this situation can be lived as a pain. But all I wanna do is focus on Marcos's tennis. Which is what HE should do too.
I remember in 2006, when he was asked questions about his girlfriend Camille during the AO. He was answering every time. I think he didn't realize at that time that the media were playing with him. But he's learned his lesson. Now, he keeps his private life out of the public eye, and that can only be good. He's gonna learn from this current situation too.
Ok, back to his tennis. Marcos will play Hewitt on the Rod Laver Arena as last match of the night session. Which means, I will be able to watch it live and complete!! Woohoo!! ;D

Hmmm just read about it...ok maybe it seems serious but I think it isn't. All these guys who support him in Melbourne have this behaviour anyway so...I mean this fan club, if you check their website you will see.And if he says about Turkey and Cyprus, he's racist?? It's about his country. This one who made the video wants to make impressions I think...
Now for tomorrow, his match is last on night session so we will watch him again! Good luck man!!
PS: Just noticed that the guy who uploaded the video is all of a sudden....from Australia! come on..coincidence??? I don't think so!

OMG!!! That was an incredible match, or should I say an incredible fight between 2 guys, neither of whom wanted to give it up. 4h45. Amazing. Especially when you know that Marcos twisted his right ankle at the beginning of the 3rd set. And it was very scary how the ankle twisted.
Marcos just lost to Hewitt 6-4 5-7 5-7 7-6 3-6. Nothing to be ashamed of. He gave it all. He was 1-5 in the 4th set and took it after an incredible tiebreak.
All I wanna say right now is thank you to Marcos for being the fighter that you are. I saw you were crying when you left the court. That was very touching. Thanks for offering us the best of you in that match. Have a good rest now, and hope the ankle isn't too painfull when it's gets colder.

You have described it perfectly, choupi. I have to add only that Marcos looks fitter and mentally tougher than last year. Also, we were witnesses of Marcos' painful transition to maturity. No need to analyze it. 2008 opens with bright prospects for the charismatic tennis player from Limassol.

Little statistics here. Marcos' match against Lleyton Hewitt is the latest match ever in tennis history. It finished at 4:32 AM (local time). Marcos' serve has improved a lot. He hit 48 aces in his three matches. 28 aces alone in his match against Lleyton.
