Markos is in Cyprus this weekend - He was seen playing cards, beach volley, etc. at Limasol beach. He is planning to attend the cyprys football cup final later tonight. His favorite team Apollon is playing. Probably he will travel to Nice tomorrow or Monday

Here is the Nice draw. I'm totally not sure that I think Marcos should be playing here I think he should have stayed home for a day or so longer, relaxed, and then gone straight to Paris to prepare for RG............. but then - what do I know So good luck to him anyway.

www.opennicecotedazur.com/news-day-2010-43.html#debutcontenuBaghdatis no worriesSeeded number 5 of the tournament, Marcos Baghdatis had an easy start at the Open de Nice Côte d'Azur. The Cypriote, ranked 29th in the world , had to adapt to a last minute change, as his opponent Mario Ancic suffering from back pains had to pull out. It was therefore the "Lucky Loser" Laurent Recouderc of France who jumped in to try and defeat the man from Nicosilla. Stronger from the backcourt, Baghdatis, never really challenged on his serve, had 5 break points before bieng able to take his opponents serve in the 10th game. He seemed to be headed for an easy win as he was serving out the match up 5-3 in the second. Back against the wall and with nothing to lose, Recouderc, who had yet to get a break opportunity in the match, was able to release his arm and put up somewhat of a fight. The Frenchman tied the set at 5. Baghdatis took it up a notch and was able to close out the match. Final score 6-3 7-5. In the next round, Bagdhatis will face off with Simon Greul of Germany for a quarterfinal spot.

Marcos took the first set 6-3 in 35 minutes.
first set was so one-sided and boring that i feared that Marcos could have fallen asleep.
please, Marcos, stay awake while being bored!

Leo Mayer is a young player from Argentina. almost all of his decent results are on the slow stuff. his today win over Bellucci should have been considered a bit surprising had his loss to him in Rome three weeks ago been taken into account… anyway, Marcos’ technical skills, and his recent competitive urge is a huge driving force.
