i experienced a tantalising spectacle featuring Marcos and Leo Mayer last June at Roland Garros. i hope this time the crowd enjoy Marcos' first round match as much as Marcos will do in competing.

OK, this time we have a Marcos and Sam Querrey doubles partnership. not particularly a Sam's fan (although he can show impressive retrieving abilities when he's fired up), yet i find him one of the most pleasant and likeable American players. Marcos and Sam didn't get a lucky draw. they will start with Paes and Stepanek. tough luck, guys.

from Marcos' official site:baghdatis.com/articles/view/marcos-cruises-through-miami-openerMarcos Cruises Through Miami OpenerFriday, 23 March, 2012Marcos is through to the second round of the Sony Ericsson Open after defeating Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer 6-1, 6-4 on Thursday at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament in Miami. Marcos broke serve four times from six opportunities and won 80 per cent of points behind his first serve to claim his first win in three meetings with the No. 77-ranked Mayer. Next up for Marcos is the ultimate test against World No. 1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic in the second round. Marcos goes into the match looking to overturn a 0-6 career record against the Serb, but did take the first set off him in their most recent meeting in Basel last year. Before then, though, Marcos will be in doubles action alongside American Sam Querrey. They face Australian Open champions Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek in the first round on Friday, with the match scheduled to take place last on Grandstand court. Check out the full order of play here. Stay tuned to www.baghdatis.com for all the latest news. Go, Marcos!

from Marcos' official site:baghdatis.com/articles/view/marcos-beaten-by-djokovicMarcos Beaten By DjokovicSunday, 25 March, 2012Marcos was beaten in the second round of the Sony Ericsson Open on Saturday evening, falling to World No. 1 Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4. Defending champion Djokovic broke serve once in each set and saved two break points to claim victory in one hour and 31 minutes. "He definitely deserves to be one of the seeded players," said Djokovic. "Obviously he struggled a little bit with injuries that took him away from the tour. "But he's a quality player, there is no doubt. He's very solid from both sides, from the baseline; he has a really good first serve; he's aggressive player; he has a very flat shot. "I thought I played really well. Towards the end I made a little more unforced errors, but generally it was a good performance for the first match." Marcos will now begin his training for the clay-court season, with his first scheduled tournament taking place at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy, beginning on 23 April in Bucharest.
