Marcos is through to the next round. From the ABN AMRO website:
Baghdatis progresses after Paire abandons
What promised to be a beautiful game, turned out to be a disappointment. Physical discomfort prevented Benoit Paire to really challenge Marcos Baghdatis in their first round match at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.
The Frenchman, who on Sunday played the final of the tournament in Montpellier, had so much pain in his back, that finishing the third set was impossible for him. With 0-6, 7-6, 0-4 he gave up the fight. "It’s never nice to win a game this way”, Baghdatis stated afterwards. "But that’s life. It was a strange game, because Paire does things you don’t expect." Just like the tournament, Baghdatis celebrates an anniversary in Ahoy Rotterdam. It’s his fifth participation in the largest indoor tennis tournament of the world. "It’s always nice to come back here”, the 27-year-old Cypriot stated. "The atmosphere in Rotterdam is very nice and it is a privilege to play here." Baghdatis will in the second round take on fourth placed Richard Gasquet

Marcos defeated Gasquet. From the ABN AMRO website: Baghdatis stops successful Gasquet
As most successful player of this season, Richard Gasquet is a player many other player would like to defeat. The Frenchman already won fifteen matches and two titles, but during the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, he had to admit defeat in the second round against Marcos Baghdatis: 6-4, 6-4.
Despite Gasquet’s winning streak his loss on the Cypriot wasn’t a big surprise; in their previous two matches Baghdatis was also the strongest. Fatigue obviously cost Gasquet the win. On Sunday in Montpellier he conquered the ninth title in his career, but after his victory in the first round in Ahoy he admitted he was mentally and physically not quite fresh anymore. His pugnacity delivered him a win over Serbian Viktor Troicki, but only the will to win wasn’t enough in the match against the agile Baghdatis. In both sets the Frenchman immediately lost a service game, what cost him a place in the quarter final. Baghdatis will in the next round play against Grigor Dimitrov. In their three past occasions the Bulgarian talent defeated the Cypriot twice.www.abnamrowtt.com/news-and-media/latest-news/40th-edition/baghdatis-stops-successful-gasquetWell, that match won't be easy, playing against Grigor, his doubles partner. The match is sheduled on Friday on Center Court, not before 12.30PM.

Mustn't have been an easy match at all. Grigor defeated Marcos and reached the semifinal. From the ABN AMRO website: Dimitrov establishes himself with spot in semis
Grigor Dimitrov is the first player to reach the last four of the 40th ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. The 21-year-old Bulgarian shook off Marcos Baghdatis in a three sets long quarter final: 6-7 (4), 7-6 (0), 6-3. With a jump over the net Dimitrov celebrated his victory. "That was the last bit of energy I got left in me ", the number 41 of the ATP-ranking joked. "Fortunately, I didn’t hurt myself. I’m tired after this tough fight. It is always difficult to play against a good friend."www.abnamrowtt.com/news-and-media/latest-news/40th-edition/dimitrov-establishes-himself-with-spot-in-semis
