From the site of the event: Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, who won title in Zagreb in 2007, came back from one set deficit against Croatian wild card Toni Androic (pictured), who never played an ATP level match before. Baghdatis won 6:7, 6:2, 6:3. "I did not play very well, I am very tired. I gave a lot mentally in Australia and I don't know if it was good decision to come here. But I will try to do my best", said Baghdatis, who lost against Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria in five sets in the third round of the Australian Open. In three matches in Melbourne he played 14 sets.www.zagrebindoors.com/news/en/

Marcos defeated I. KARLOVIC 3-6 7-6 7-6, saving 1 matchpoint. He'll face M. YOUZNHY on Friday. From the site of the event: Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, who won the title here in 2007, survived 26 aces and match point against top-seeded Ivo Karlovic in the second round of the PBZ Zagreb Indoors. Baghdatis won by 3:6, 7:6 (5), 7:6 (7) and reached the quarterfinals after the thrilling battle. "I was a bit fresher than in the first round, but against Ivo there are not many rallies and you don't get chance to get tired. You have to be explosive", Baghdatis said. Karlovic had massive 83% of his first serves in and won 80% of first serve points, but it was Baghdatis who played better at crucial moments. Cypriot won the first tie-break after trailing 1-3 and the second one after saving match point at 6-7. "It's very tough to play against guy with such a serve and such a first serve percentage. Even for the best returners in the game, such as Novak Djokovic, is tough", Baghdatis said. Everything about Ivo Karlovic in Zagreb is now related to number ten. This is the 10th edition of the tournament, his 10th attempt here and his win-loss record is now 10-10. "It's not easy to handle this. I expected more. I did not play bad, I had match point and did not convert it", Karlovic said.www.zagrebindoors.com/news/en/

Marcos won't make the Zagreb final this year as he's been defeated by G. GARCIA-LOPEZ 4-6 4-6. G. GARCIA-LOPEZ continued his strong run of form to open the 2015 season, surging into his seventh ATP World Tour final with a tight 6-4, 6-4 victory over Marcos Baghdatis at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors.
After three straight comebacks from a set down to open the week, 2007 champion Baghdatis was unable to conjure the same magic on Saturday, despite rallying from a break down early in the second set. Third seed Garcia-Lopez prevailed in 97 minutes, securing his sixth victory in his last seven matches having reached the Round of 16 at the Australian Open (l. to Wawrinka).
"I am really happy to be in the final," said the World No. 33. "I didn’t start well. I was a bit nervous. Then I started to play much better with good rallies from the baseline. He made a few mistakes with his forehand which is not his best shot. I was able to break him twice at 4-4 (in both sets). I look forward to being in the final tomorrow."
Garcia-Lopez was one of 13 champions aged 30-over last year when he defeated Marcel Granollers in Casablanca, and the 31-year-old Spaniard could once again square off with his countryman for an ATP World Tour crown in Sunday's title match. Granollers battles Andreas Seppi in the second semi-final in the Croatian capital.
"I started well today," Baghdatis said. "I was in charge, I was aggressive. I was a break up but then it went away from my hands. I have no regrets about the second set. He played really well. He was the better player on court today and he was the one finding a way to win." www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2015/02/5/Zagreb-Saturday-Garcia-Lopez-Seppi.aspx
